Deming-Young Farm

Historic farmland with community gardens

About This Park

Purchased by the town in 1998 via eminent domain to prevent development, this property features a historic 1784 farmhouse built by Thomas Deming, whose family held the land since 1671. Thomas Deming likely supplied shoes for the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War. Now features community garden plots (20x20 feet each) and over 50 acres of walking trails.

About the Community Gardens

The Newington Community Gardens are located next to the historic Deming-Young Farm property. Each plot is pre-prepared with the plots being roto-tilled and marked before the growing season begins.

The growing season typically begins in mid-spring, though the exact start date depends on soil conditions and weather.
